May 19th, 2015 was to be the day that the parents of permanent resident and U.S. Citizen children would be able to apply for Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents, or DAPA. Applicants were left in limbo after a federal judge in Texas placed a temporary injunction on President Obama’s federal program. Immigrants across the country were prepared with their documents in hand and ready to apply.
Nearly 4 million undocumented immigrants meet all of the requirements of the DAPA program. Nationwide protests and rallies are scheduled across the country to what would have been the unofficial kick-off date to President Obama’s second – and most sweeping – executive action on immigration.
